We are pleased to announce this year’s selected scholarship recipients! Every year, Looking Glass Foundation proudly supports individuals who have faced the immense challenges of eating disorders and are now ready to pursue their academic dreams through the Reflections Scholarships.
This year, we were profoundly inspired by the powerful stories shared through the applications we received. Reflections Scholarship Recipients
“I am both thrilled and honored to be one of this year’s Reflections scholarships recipients. I am incredibly grateful for the Looking Glass foundation, not only for this scholarship but for the integral role they have played in my eating disorder recovery journey. Receiving this scholarship is about so much more than the financial assistance it will provide me in pursuing my education- it is a reminder of my recovery and all the countless times I wanted to give up but kept on going. To everyone who is in the midst of it right now: recovery is worth it (I promise).“

“I feel very grateful to have received this scholarship. The application process really encouraged me to reflect on the past few years and write about my journey from an empathetic and future-focused perspective. It was cathartic to be able to honour my experiences but to also define myself as someone who is more than those narratives. I feel very empowered to continue stepping out of my comfort zone and to live as a person free from an eating disorder, doing what makes me happy and fulfilled.”

“Receiving this scholarship as a recoverer of an eating disorder is an incredible honor that signifies more than just financial support; it is a profound validation of my hard work, resilience, and potential. It serves as a testament to the countless hours I have invested in my academic and extracurricular pursuits while overcoming significant personal challenges.
This scholarship not only alleviates the financial burden of my education but also motivates me to continue striving for growth. It is a reminder that there are people and organizations who believe in my dreams and aspirations despite the obstacles I have faced. With this support, I am empowered to focus more on my studies, engage in enriching opportunities, and advocate for mental health awareness. This scholarship is a stepping stone towards achieving my goals and making a positive impact in the world. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity and am committed to making the most of it, honoring the trust and confidence placed in me.”

“Receiving this scholarship means so much to me because it shows that hard work and determination pays off. The Looking Glass has been a big part of my journey in recovery and knowing that my accomplishments have been recognized makes me proud and excited for the future ahead of me. This financial aid is going to help me work towards my goal of becoming an occupational therapist and eventually being able to help others regain their own independence just like I was able to. I am very appreciative of this opportunity and thank all of my supporters for allowing me to get to this point in my recovery.”

“The Looking Glass Scholarship serves as a reminder to me that recovery is possible and worth it. While writing my application I reflected on my personal growth and how far I’ve came in recovery. I encourage others to apply as telling your story though it may seem daunting, is a fulfilling experience. As a survivor, I will continue using my voice to inspire others that there is light at the end of the tunnel.”
Grace, Child and Youth Care at University of Victoria
